C-section scar opening up years later? |
My wife had a c-section 13 years ago. It was a large vertical incision. It left a fairly big scar but wasn't much of a issue. Last year after trying the patch birth control and becoming allergic to most anything. The GP tried to give her a couple different types of Birth control and she had the same reaction. It also does this when she uses an inhaler. The scar would just scab over, and then the scab falls off. It鈥檚 then red and seeps a little fluid. Now the scar every couple months repeats the process scab, opens or splits apart and gets red/sore. The fluid in the splits I assume is maybe some infection fighting, like any cut would have. It is itchy and red normally having multiple sores along the scar; she has been to the GP who doesn't have a clue. She has showed this issue to the Allergy doctor also who did not know why this is happening. So has anyone else ran across this years after a c-section? It does sound like an infection. If the liquid is like a pinkish water, runny not thick and foggy,(I hope I'm describing this correctly), it is an infection. She should go to the ER. Does she have a fever? The scar might need to be opened and cleaned, I'm afraid. In the mean time an anti-bacterial cream like neosporine will help. She needs to rest, allow her body to heal. While this is not a common thing it could of been brought on by over exhursion. Maybe something she picked up or even exercise. Maybe a dermatologist can give her a better assessment . Good luck. This is not normal; she needs to see a physician. Do not rely on an allrgey specialist to diagnose this. A festering infection can cause serious complications with someone's health. The sooner she gets to a doctor about this, the better. |
