Days after a C section, my mom started experiencing severe headaches-though nothing matching symptoms of spina

My mom had 2 spinal blocks the day of her C section. The first was "off center" causing pain in her legs so they redid it & it seemed to take well the 2nd time. She has had MRI's CT scans, extensive blood work & examined by numerous Dr's but no one seems to have the answer to releif to her headaches. She has a history of migraines prior to becoming pregnant, but none for the last year to year 1/2. No history of high blood pressure, until her 6th month of pregnancy. But in recent days it's been up to 200/120. She does not match symptoms of spinal headaches so a blood patch has not been given to her at this time. She went all day today feeling "good/better" thinkning she may be able to come home tomorrow, but at about 6pm tonight the headache came back & by 8 it was unbarable again.

Days after a C section, my mom started experiencing severe headaches-though nothing matching symptoms of spinal headaches. Doctors are stumped, we are at a loss of what to do next & she is still sitting in the ICU in extreme pain (after being there now for 4 days). Please help us! I don't know what to do! Thank you...

Have they even bothered to look at the obvious thing? Leaking of spinal fluid which causes a severe headache.

It is a known risk of epidurals and blocks.

The increase in her BP could be because of the intensity of pain.
But even that is an extreme level.

Maybe the two are NOT connected?

You can get pre-eclampsia in pregnancy which is extreme high blood pressure.
You mentioned that she had no history of a high BP till the 6th month. This is pre-eclampsia.
BUT BIRTH 'CURES' THIS CONDITION.

The headache could also be from the massive increase in the BP.

I suffered from a 'headache' after a rushed spinal block, for 3.5 months. All day every day AND NOT ONE Doctor could work out what was causing the headache!
Hello!
It is a known risk of these things and is told to the patient that a leak could happen in 1 in a 100 cases.
But still they could not work out what was causing my headaches either.

I feel your mum's frustration and yours as well.

Ask them if they have considered a small spinal leak of fluid?
BUT DON'T TELL THEM A NURSE ASKED YOU TO ASK THIS. They hate it when we know more about what's going on than them.

Some Doc's also look past the obvious and straight for the rarest things.

I hope you get some answers very soon.

Good luck.
