Scheduled C-section and catheter fear? |
I am scheduled for a c-section the second week of january. I've been on bed rest for about 17 weeks due to placental previa and I'm pretty glad to be near the end. But I'm terrified of the c-section. I have low pain tolerance and surgical anxieties. my doctor says he is not going to use a general but a spinal block for safety issues and that he will dope me up on atavan and a sedative so that I won't be coherent. He promised that they'll do the catheter I'm so terrified of after the spinal block so I dont feel it I had two c' sections. Fist one I was completely out, for safety concerns (with me and the baby). The second I had a saddle block. Yes you will feel the needle and the pain lasts less than ten seconds. You will feel nothing when they remove the cath' tube. It is not uncomfortable at all. there maybe just a "tinge" of pain associated with the removal procedure or no a pain at all. But I assure you nothing like having it inserted ouch!!. The spinal is no big deal. It is nice to be awake during the birth and not feel the pain. The catheter you maybe aware of , but no pain. When it is removed you will feel some pressure - nothing big. You should get up and walk right away - keep your muscle loose etc. The stitches are dissoluble and are gone in a couple of weeks - not the staples of years ago. Relax and enjoy your baby. I had two c-sections. The first was an emergency the second I picked the day - I had gone into labor the first time and did not want to experience that again ! Honey, trust me when I say this, ok, I've had 4 c sections... you'll have that baby hanging around looking adorable and you'll not even notice they're taking the damn thing out! LOL |
