C- section or natural birth? |
I am due in October. But I developed a hernia in my abdominal area. Now my Dr. wants to do a C-section so he can remove the hernia. I have had 2 natural births already. I really don't want the large scar. What should I do. I had to have a c-section when my son got turned by the contractions and couldn't get into the right position for the birth canal. I had spent my pregnancy getting ready for a vaginal delivery, but when it came down to it, the safety of my baby as well as myself was at risk and that was the priority. Since you have a hernia in the abdominal area, it would put you, and possibly your baby, at risk because of all the pushing and straining required during childbirth. If the doctor can do a c-section and remove the hernia while he already has you sedated, it saves you from another surgery after your baby is born and cuts down on the complications you may have from having two surgeries. The scar won't be that big. It is done very low on your abdomen and is a couple inches long. By the time it heals it is generally 1 inch (or less) wide x about 6 inches long. What ever is the best for the baby don't worry about scars as long as you have a healthy child. if it's for your safety or your baby's safety, go with the c section.. you are already a mother .. no need to show off your body in a bikini.. just do whatever is best for both u and your baby. C-sections have advanced over the years so the scar they leave is not so large. It's horizontal along the bikini line. Here's an image to illustrate: If your Dr recommands you, I suggest you get a second opinion b4. I would tell your doctor you would really like to deliver vaginally, ask if there is anyway to do so. Have him/her explain the risks. I have had 4 c-sections and would not have it any other way. Eventually the scar fades away and now they have a procedure called the bikini cut. They cut you across and real low so that you can even wear a basic bikini and it covers the scar. And besides that cut the scar line is very find and after a reasonable lenght of time you will rarely notice it even there. I've had a c-section and a natural birth. The c-section was the easy way out for me. My scar is above my panty line and is not that visible at all. After the c-section you will be sore for a couple of days, but for me regular childbirth hurt like hell. I had a C-section 12 years ago. The scar is completely invisible, hidden very low in the pubic hair and is just an extremely fine white line. Plus I was thrilled I didn't have to go through the agony of labor. Do the c section it will be lest pain to remove the hernia because you will be in labor and sedated. The scar shoudn't be tp bad because it will come from the abdomin. If you dont do it you will still have the hernia after he baby come. You could develop severe pain as well so let just focus on the pain together so that you can focus on your baby. I n other words do it. Well, I five years ago had a c-section and It didn't leave a big scar, besides my scar is hidden. I can wear a two piece bathing suit and doesn't show. of course if i didn't have the stretch marks I would... :) but still remember that if the doctor recomends that is because he wants to do all in one operation, that would be better than two, don't you think? |
