How many women undergo C-SECTION DELIVERY in USA out of 100 mothers undergo the process of labor to deliver.?

I wanted to mean is number of c -section delivery increasing in us hospitals? what is the present data? many women prefer to undergo c- section delivery than to undergo lengthy & uncertain process of different stages of lobor.if anyone from American society of obstetrics & gynaecology can answer my question.

The cesarean delivery rate in the US in 2005 was 30%. In 1996, it was approximately 20%. The rate of cesarean deliveries is indeed increasing.

Many factors contribute to the increasing incidence of cesarean deliveries. A few of these are: more older mothers giving birth (higher risk), more multiple births which frequently require cesarean delivery, doctors wanting to avoid litigation associated with vaginal birth complications, women opting for cesarean delivery out of convenience, and women opting for cesarean to avoid pelvic floor trauma.

The first link I am including below will take you to an article that summarizes the 2004 CDC data. The second link will take you to the preliminary 2005 CDC data (Table 4 on page 4 has the cesarean statistics).

The only thing the previous poster left out is that part of that 30% includes women who are having a repeat c-section. Since VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesearean) is not available at many hospitals, women have no choice but to have another c-section if they already had one.

Ur not going to believe this one ,but in my opinion,I think that Dr's "Prefer"this over natural births. Now a days there are sooo many giving birth & soo little dr's.so to make it easier fr them I think that they do that to "get her done"&move on to the next woman who's waiting. It's nothing to them &they do it like they were at a fast food place, asembly line style.I have seen more women getting them now a days then ever before.
