I have a question about gastric bypass surgery?

Before having gastric bypass surgery my husbands aunt had to lose 40 pounds in one month.
Her doctor had her prepare meals and measure them then place them in containers and freeze them.
She was to eat five of them a day and she lost the 40 pounds the first month and was able to have her gastric bypass surgery.
What I'm wondering is if anyone knows what kind of food doctors tell their gastric bypass patients to eat to lose all that weight before their surgery and how to prepare it.
I would really appreciate any help on this subject.
Thanks.

By the way I am not having gastric bypass surgery I just want to know what they eat to lose weight so I can do it and lose weight too naturally.

Having just had a gastric bypass myself in December I would say that your aunt was probably partly on a liquid diet. You said though that she was able to prepare foods so they foods had to be low in fat, sugar free, and could have been protein type foods.

I cannot imagine any food that would help her to loose that much weight in a months time except liquid diet. Now keep in mind that a liquid diet can include sugar free, fat free puddings, drinks, and soups and mostlikely included protein drinks which is something a person will need after they have gastric bypass.

Hope this helps!

I would assume anykind of low fat, hight protien diet. I know personally i like to make cassarole with whole wheat pasta, low sodium pasta sauce and ground turkey or chicken. After i brown the ground turkey or chicken i add the sauce, spinach and lowfat cheese. Then combine it with the pasta and bake it for like 15 mins. Then i ration it. It helped me lose like 5 llbs over 2 or 3 weeks. AND i saw on the health channel that ppl that eat more lowfat dairy diegest up to 50% LESS fat over the year.

Don't know...but my daughter is having the LapBand Suregery...soon...and is having to go two weeks on an 800 calorie diet..until the surgery...
