Heart bypass surgery/pneumonnia?

Has anyone reading this ever known a loved one or other to have had a bypass surgery and then they also had pneummonia along with it? My dad has this and i am so so scared. The nurses have gave him something through tubes to loosen the sputum but he is not pushing out as much as they'd like.My parents are my life and i'm in need of some help with this sitution. Thank you.

yes, my dad had it and it can take a little time for the pneumonia to loosen up. Have faith. I'll say a prayer for you!

My mother did. They did not do the surgery however until she had several breathing treatments and a round of antibiotics. She went through the bypass surgery just fine. It did take her a little bit longer in ICU to make sure that she was over everything.
I hope all goes well.
