Help regarding douts in Bypass surgery?

Hi all
any 1 plz tell me what is the difference between by-paass surgery and angioplasty.
what actually doctors do in bypass surgery?
how much it costs?
what is its efficiency?
if there are 3 valves blocked in blood circulation what bypass will do ?
Is there any good hospital in hyderabad locality??

Plz help me frenz. Its very urgent for me.
thanks in advance.

by-pass is a "surgery" where as angioplasty is an "interventional" treatment.

In angioplasty, a very very long thin flexible needle is inserted from the inner-thigh region main blood vessel to reach the heart/blocked blood vessel. Once the flexible-needle reaches the blocked vessel that end is blow like a small ballon to mechanically open the blood vessel. With this pressure the block in the artery will get reduced. Sometime a stent (a small pipe shaped metallic net) is placed to keep the mechanically opened blockage wider.

In bypass, blood vessels are taken from your legs or forearm (taking this does not affect your bodys functionality) and stiched around the blocked artery, so that the blood will "by-pass" the blocked artery and flow through the newly created route.

Angioplasty, is a single day event.
Bypass is a major surgery and need recupuration time (5day in hostpital and 1month rest)

Angioplasty, there is chance that blockage may re-occur
Bypass, once it is done if you lead a healthy living there should not be any issues for 20+ years.

Angioplasty, there could be complications during the procedure, like the blocked artery getting blocked again and a heart attack
Bypass, here also there could be complications due to the surgery. The newly stiched/attached artery will be effective without much issue, but the other complications like old age/pressure/diabaetics etc can make the surgery riskier.

Angioplasty, efficiency is medium, as it could re-occur later
Bypass, efficiency is high, if you lead a healthy life afterwards.

Now a days all the by-pass surgery is of type "beating-heart" surgery. The open-heart (where the heart is temporarily stopped and artifical machine used to pump blood) surgery is not done now-a-days.

If 3 valves have blockage (assuming that 70% or more) any doctor you consult will only recommend by-pass.

Though I am not a doctor, from my prev-experience of my father-in-law (1st attack 8yrs back, chronic-diabetes, 3 blocks of 70%, underwent bypass, now having a healthy/active life) I would recommend bypass only.

Because once you does a by-pass it is like a new leash to life... since there is no blockage (currently or in future if healthy lifestyle) you will not be feeling tired after walking some time etc and with a 20+yr guarantee (of course! no-one can gaurantee anything) you will feel that you have got a new life!!

Don't know about Hyd, in b'lore I will recommend Wockhardt

So bypass is my answer!!

For a private-delux-room-with-assist... : 2.79L (insurance covered)
For a general ward/shared should be significantly lower : 1.9L or 1.5L

Irrespective of the level of room, doctor/treatment is same. It is just the some fees are hiked up (like the surgen fees, room rent, etc) Report It

ThanX friend Report It

In a bypass a doctor will take a vein (usually from the leg) and make a little side road around the area of the artery that is blocked off an angioplasty is where they put what is called a catheter in the artery. This pushes all of the junk that clogs the artery out of the fay so the blood can get through. Both surgeries work well and prolong the life of people like you wouldn't believe. but the person's life style will have to change in order to stay healthy. The 3 blockages is when a triple bypass would be done to keep the blood moving. Good Luck. PS Insurance should cover most of it.

1. Bypass means removing vein from other part of the body, block the clogged vein and join this vein by bypassing the clogged one.
2. Angioplasty means they try to open the blocks with external pressure such as balloon or minute spring.
3. A bypass will cost ranging from Rs. 2 lakhs to 5 lakhs depending on the hospital you select.
4. Bypass is not a permanent solution. There are several cases a patient had to under go bypass surgery second time. One has to be under medication for life time even after the bypass. The diet and life style has to be changed.
5. There are very good ayurvedic capsules available in the market such as Rudved/Cardoved/Suved/Slowgold etc.
6. Log into google search engine, go to images and type bypass. You will get the image of bypass. Similarly type angioplasty, you will get the image.
