Help!!!!!! Gastric bypass surgery?

I was interested in feedback about gastric bypass surgery, my friend is going to have it next month, I would like to know the good, the bad, the ugly about it...anyone here have it before?

I'm not an expert and don't claim to be but I have heard enough that I would make it my last available option and even then only if my health were in danger if I didn't lose the weight.

AS a medical professional I never like Gastric bypass surgery, Too many problems and quite a few deaths. The Lap Band is done with laparoscopy and can be removed or let out if needed. Much safer proceedure. The Gastric bypass, can break, leak, cause digestion problems, staples come out..I personally have not seen too many successful ones but lots of problem ones.
My friend at this moment cannot eat or keep food down due to the malfunction of his surgery. Plus you cannot drink coffee after surgery it does something to the digestion and causes many problems.

I know several people who have had it done. They lost a lot of weight very quickly, but you still have to live a healthy life style or the weight will come back. The major complaint I have heard is that the skin will no longer be tight and often requires plastic surgery to remove. But it was a matter of life and death for some because they were so big. All of them are MUCH happier now! She will need love and support both before and after. Please be there for her. :)

My friend & I are both scheduled for gastric bypass surgery the end of May. It is an individual choice, no 2 people are the same. It's not a "magic" fix to being overweight. It gives you a jump start, but you still have to do the work, diet & exercise. gastric bypass is only a tool to assit you with weight loss. not me but it is somthing to really think about it is very dangerus you can die from it u can get disesis from it u can also loos a lot of weight from it just be very carful in your thought of it
