Is it safe to get gastric bypass surgery or a lap band surgery?

My BMI is 58.What is better for me-lap band surgery or gastric bypass surgery?Which one is priced lower?

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of weight loss surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her revision surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

I would be safe and stick with EXERCISING to lose the weight and keep it off. Good Luck!!!

Nope

I know three people who have successfully had this type of surgery, and they are all doing well.

Only the surgeon can give you answers to the other questions you are asking.

Both procedures are not without danger. Some people do die.
Talk with your doctor about this.

Not as safe as exercising and eating properly. Talk to your doctor. Unless you are 75+ lbs overweight, the doctor would not consider you as a candidate for these procedures.

don't go for the lower price here my friend. speak to a doctor or a few doctors and see what they say.

there are unfortunately risks to any surgery, but generally speaking the improvement in your quality of life may well warrant taking that risk. it is only for you to decide.

there are groups on Yahoo that discuss these surgeries and the people are patients, nurses, doctors. they have LOTS of good information check it out.
good luck

Any surgical procedure involves risk. However, I work at a hospital and it's a common procedure there and I think our success rate is very high.

I think it is potentially dangerous in the long run to have gastric bypass surgery because it can be irreversible and your body wil lbe forever scarred. Any other surgery i feel is again the same situation regardless of what it is. I suggest dieting and trying your best to get into a severely serious exercise program. i woudl take whatever time off of work to get your BMI much lower as i can see you are almost double the BMI of obesity. Whatever you do, weigh your options very carefully and put your long term health first before any price.

I am quite overweight, and would like to have one of these procedures, however, any surgery has it's risks.

I am trying to eat less and be a bit more active. I am taking small steps now, hoping to increase activity a little at a time.

I figure it took a long time to get this fat, i don't expect to lose it overnight. (although i wish i could - LOL)

Besides, whenever someone has these surgeries and loses the weight (good for them), everyone telling them how good they look, etc, when really shouldn't people compliment the DOCTOR??? They are the one that did all the work!
