Is it possible for gasrtric bypass patients to gain weight 2 yrs after their surgery? |
My sister in law had gastric bypass surgery 2 years ago. She lost alot of weight initially, but seems to be getting heavey again...I thought that after such surgery you were safe? It is very possible to gain the weight back after surgery, lots of people do. And congrats on your weight loss...thats why you are succeeding and she isnt, you made a lifestyle change! Seems that alot of people gain the weight back after this surgery. It appears to last a few years but then the weight comes back.Don't know the exact reason, maybe the stomach stretches back out?A woman in my church had this surgery a few years ago, probably about 3.She is gaining the weight back quickly it seems. She was so thin after the surgery, but her weight is almost back to where it was before the surgery. Yes, it is possible. I know a girl who gained all her weight back a few years after the surgery. You haven't seen Carnie Wilson, have you? Tuine in to tonight's "Celebrity Fit Club," and all will be answered. The stomach like a balloon it will stretch out after time yes my cousin had the surgery, and now 2 or 3 yrs laters she is gaining all the weight back. People who have bariatric (gastric bypass) surgeries are given diets to follow and encouraged to make lifestyle changes. If they do not follow their diet and exercise, they will gain the weight back. It's a pretty risky and expensive operation to have done, and not make the lifestyle changes necessary. It is actually Quite possible. The stomach is a very elastic organ is stretched out when the person over eats. Yes it is possible. You can not eat what you want... think back when yur sister in law first had her surgery she ate very little, then slowly started eating moer a little at a time. What I noticed in my mother in law after she had the same surgery. Yes, Carnie Wilson is the best example. She gained weight about 3 years after her surgery, and she said her weight was creeping back to her old weight (pre-surgery) so she did a diet overhaul. Yes it is possible, and it is happening a lot lately.. the reason is that people do not understand that Gastric Bypass and other Weight Loss Surgery methods are NOT a magic bullet or a set-it-and-forget-ti solution.. it is only 25% of the solution.. if your mind is not setup to change your eating habits, you will be able to gain weight back... your mind is stronger than your body.... So if someone is undergoing Gastric Bypass, they have to be prepared ALSO TO CHANGE their eating habits forever. |
