Hip bursitis? been to doc several times?

Ok, to anyone who has had hip bursitis or has successfully treated hip bursitis. i don't wanna hear: go to Doc or don't run please! I have been a runner for a year . 2 months ago, i started having a pain in my hip/groin. after two visits ti the Doc, he poked around and said it was Hip bursitis. told me to lay off and see how I felt. I ran a couple of times once the pain left (after about a week) and the pain came back. He gave me a cortisone shot. two weeks, no pain. tried running a few time, after third time, pain came back. Gave me script for anti-inflm, been three weeks, no real pain. went running several time, shorter runs, today a slight twinge, pain with digital pressure. The doc has basically said, Don't run. Which can be fine in the short term, but i have been training for something and giving up running longterm is NOT an option. Has anyone had any luck with any other tx? acupuncture? laser? I'll do whatever I need as long as I can return to training soon.

have you and your doc disscused aspiration or surgical excision? other than those things, rest ice compression and elevation. warm up and cool down appropriately. goodluck.

Well you need to stop looking for a quick fix. You have developed a mechanical pain problem that needs physical medicine treatment. Medication or injections will help the resulting pain symptoms but are not helping the source of the problem. You may have a tight muscle around the hip such as IT band tightness, or weakness in the hip musculature. Laser acupuncture or massage therapy will leave you in the same pattern you are in. Help the symptoms, go back to running, hurt again. You should see a physical therapist to get the source of the symptoms addressed. We treat hip bursitis daily, and it is easy to treat.
