Wondering if Hip Bursitis Will Ever Go Away?

I was told that I have bursitis in my left hip about two years ago.
I went to physical therapy for about 5 weeks, it did nothing. It has been two years now and the pain has not gone away. I only get mild relief from pain when I have a few days of little to no sitting.

Wondering if anyone else has suffered from hip bursitis and has been able to get rid of it.

Oww I have it in my right hip.

It does settle, but with the hip it is not unusual to have recurrent flare-ups of bursitis attacks, I found that a heat pack helps, along with taking pain killers help a little, along with a good anit-inflammatory. When in bed on my left side, I place a pillow under my right knee, to alleviate pain.

I was strongly advised, by the pain management clinic, not to ride a bike because the up and down motion and round and round motion, exacerbates the joint and causes more pain. Gentle stretching and walking is fine, ensure you have good quality shoes, avoid wearing high heels (they are killers). I have also orthotic innersoles, for my shoes, that are fantastic, due to my right leg being slightly shorter then the other, thus adding to the bursitis.

I had bursitis in my rotator cuff...it lasted about a year. After that time they were talking sugery. I underwent surgery ( a bursectomy) and the pain was resolved...eventually. Maybe you need to talk to your doc and insist that living in pain is NOT acceptable to you!!...You can take control of your healthcare, and nobody needs to live in pain for two years. If it hasnt settled down in this amount of time, a plan b needs to be devised.

my mom has it in her arm and has for at least 2 years, i think shes on medicine/it goes away and comes back. but i dont think theres a drug related cure for it. you may indeed want to discuss surgery options with your doctor. its a quality of life issue.

I was just diagnosed (this past Monday) with bursitis in my right hip. I had been suffering with it for months. I saw my Rheumatologist yesterday and she gave me an injection in the hip. It feels better already. The idea is that the bursa which is a cushioning between your bone and tendons is inflamed. The injection eases the inflammation and the pain goes away. There is no way to predict if it will come back. I had bursitis in my shoulder 2 years ago and had the injection and it hasn't come back yet.
