Hip bursitis. will it ever go away???

Hello,
I hope you can shed some light on this for me, or at least give me hope. I was diagnoses with hip bursitis a few weeks ago. I had pain on the outer hip which radiated to the groin area when running. actually the pain was more intense after running. I took a couple of weeks off running while taking advil. returned to Doc who gave me a cortisone shot. it hurt for a few days and then the pain began to decrease. After about ten days, i felt no pain. I tried running, it felt ok. the next day i went running again and felt a twinge. the day after i went running again and felt the pain after the run and still feel it now. The pain is not excrutiating but bothersome. Did I ruin the progress I was making? I figured maybe i ran too soon, is this going to get better ever? I don't want it to become a chronic problem. the Doc had given me Relafen for another problem I had had and it helped alot then, will it help me now?

Hi, I don't want to sound rude but a proper warming up and stretching regime before running should help to limit the straining. I would also suggest that you ask the doctor for some anti-inflammatory medication to help ease the discomfort!

I hope you feel better soon

Had bursitis after driving a van for 6 weeks. Comes under the heading of Doctor it hurts when I do this don't do that.

i take ginger and turmeric for bursitis. I've had it for years and the docs aren't alot of help. works well.

I have the same problem when i run i was in the military and every time i went in to get checked up on they would just give me time off, this was 4 years ago and i still get the problem when i run, so my guess is that it will always be around, i just try to limit how hard i run and the distances, it seemed to help some, just did a lot of trying paces and distances to figure out what the best is for me. hope this was helpful
