Should i put hot or cold on shoulder with bursitis?

i have bursitis in my shoulder and am taking medicine for it... but it doesn't seem to be helping... the doctor said i could put something on it, but i can't remember if he said to put hot or cold on it... help!

Cold. Bursitis is an infection, generating heat. Cool it down. If it does not resolve, you may need a shot.

Since cold and damp weather can make pain worse I suggest heat,........hope you feel better
