What burns more energy? Running or walking on incline?


Today I was reading my monthly fitness mag and before I started my workout it said that walking on a treadmill on an incline burns more calories than running on 0% incline.
So I did my excersise (walked with the highest incline) and after I picked up my mag again and read another article and it said that running was the best for burning calories.

Now I'm confused? which one is better? Running with no incline or walking with 15% incline.

By the way I'm going great with my diet and excersise so far. I'm looking and feeling so much better.

Sometimes people forget that there should be constants. like time spent running, or on an incline.
if that is constant, running burns more calories than walking on an incline of 15%... also... it depends on the speed you run or walk at.
if you do cardio, and you can't keep up a conversation while doing it... trust me, you are burning enough calories.
running at 4.7 mph with 0% burns around 800 calories per hour
walking at 3.2 mph with 15% incline burns 750 calories per hour

so they're almost the same...
but, if you have knee or back problems, i would go with walking on an incline to decrease the impact level.

I'd say running burns more. But i guess if you want to kill two birds with one stone, you could run on an incline.

haha...i'm confused too..but you know, i walk on a 15% incline coz its much easier than running plus it burns a lot of calories too! so if your like me, someone who choose what's easier, then do the incline, but i guess running, with incline, burns more calories...hahaha

Running burns more energy.
Walking and running burns the same amount of calories.
Walking with incline will most likely work the best for you!

Running of course burns more energy, but instead of running on incline ex. up hill try running in deep sand , NOW thats a work out trust me thats how i would condition to play soccer when i was young

if you cut all the calories and eat only carbs your body will burn itself thats eazy .cal is not letting you body burn itself ,so eat lots of animal product you will be okay with that sea food meat cheese eggs..but no side dishes just remember that not at all try it you will like it i did it my self just sitting on the chair i did lost 20 lb isn't some think? because my body went crazy now have to burn himself ...i made it ...calories wont alloud to burn your food ....then it turns to fat..no cal thats all no fruit or vegi too to much cal because has a sugar in all of them

Actually it all depends on the total distance you walk or run. At 15% inclined level, the mutipiler is 3.5% more than level ground. That is to say that if you cover 10km on an inclined (15%), you will be expending about the same energy if you cover 10.35km on level ground.
