Your body burns calories while you're awake?


I heard that your body burns calories while you're awake. If thats the case, do severely sleep deprived people burn more calories than most people?
I know its not healthy, but I only get 3 or 4 hours of sleep a nite. So can I eat more than the average person because I'm awake longer?

Well i think to burn calories you'd have to be moving, so if your up and moving then sure your burning something at least. But three to four hours a night, that's absurd. Go to bed!

As long as you're alive your body burns calories. When you're asleep you don't burn as many as when you're awake. When you stand you burn more than when you sit. As far as eating more because you're awake I would assume that might be a way to look at it. Otherwise I've heard of your body slows down your metabolism to match your intake of calories.

Your body burns calories 24/7 until you are dead, This is because your body burns calories from involuntary things like your heart beat or breathing

Technically, you can eat more if you get less sleep, However, not alot more because you're probably not doing heavy, physical for the time you should be sleeping, Also, food eaten late usually gets stored as fat

So, don't think that just you can eat a three-course meal just cause you miss a few hours of sleep, You'll add unwanted weight quickly

everyone has different metabolism!

even when ur asleep u burn about 50-90 calories.. when ur awake u burn even more. But a lot of people are overweight these days and they think that just getting on ur diet is the key.

The main key is exercise!!! if ur a guy run a lil if u preffer to lift weight thats very good too. it will give u a better physic and better looking and healthier body!

women also should exercise like jog do aerobics stretch yoga
