Bunions/Flat Feet help!?

Hi Im really struggling to work out exactly how to look after my feet.... I started off with back pain from an injury and was informed correct footwear would help with this.

Correct footwear being that I should stop wearing flat shoes (i live in ballet bump style shoes and from this I think i have gained flat feet as these shoes dont support your arch.

So ive started to wear heels thinkin this wud help my problem and im in totally agony wearing them - its seems as if wearing flat shoes has given me wide flatter feet and i can no longer wear heels.

I have pain at the side of my big toe whenever i try the heels and i assume this is now a bunion problem but when researching advice on bunions everywhere says to avoid heels flat shoes are best!
Im really confused now - should i be wearing flat or high heels which are doing my feet more damage? if i continue to wear the flat will i cause problems as my arch will drop and my feet will continue to widen? Help please

Hiya! I say go to your GP and they can refer you to a podiatrist.
They can make insoles specific for you (they take a cast of your feet) which support your feet and allow you to wear normal shoes. Alternatively you can go direct to podiatrist, my friend did this and her insoles cost 拢250. Whereas mine were free on the NHS...the choice is yours!

Hi.

I am an NHS Musculoskeletal Podiatrist. I would ask your GP to refer you to a local NHS Dept. that deals with lower limb musculoskeletal problems on a daily basis. Its difficult giving medical advice over the net without a clinical examination, which is usually from the hips down.

Bunions can only really be corrected with surgery, but sound footwear advice can sometimes delay the progression and ease pain.

Good Luck.
