Bunions help/? |
i have bunions on both feet and have done ever since i was a kid im now 21,can anyone with bunions get them removed via surgery or do you have to be really bad with them,i have pain now and again but not all the time plus i find it very hard to find the right pair of shoe i always wear trainers.also if anyone has had surgery to remove them what is the healing process like and how long did you have to wait before they did them, any help or advise would be perfect.many thanks. If your bunions aren't causing you much in the way of pain you probably won't get put on the waiting list. When you do come to have them removed you'll possibily be asked if you want them done one at a time with a 6-9 month gap between each operation. Having bunions removed is a very painful process. You are aware that the surgeon breaks your big toe and then shaves some of the bone away that is causing the deformity aren't you? You will be in a plaster cast for 6-8 weeks too. I once went into hopital for an op, not bunions, and there were 6 women in having their bunions removed. They were all unaware that their foot would be broken or that they'd be in a plaster cast!! One woman nearly had kittens when she found that out because she had elected to have both done at the same time! I couldn't understand why none of them had asked their GP or the surgeon when he did his rounds what the operation entailed! Ithink your best bet for relieving some of your pain is covering that area with surgical padding. If you make sure you don't wear unsuitable footwear in the future you should be ok after surgery but, unfortunately bunions have a habit of returning. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Bunion/Page... |
