Do I Have Bunions? |
I really need some advice, possibly from someone who has the same problem. I'm a young male and when I was younger I had to get specially fitted shoes since I had Wide Feet, 10 EEE but when I got older I was able to wear a regular 10 sized shoes; as the fitted shoes were to big. Then me I went on a diet recently and have lost weight and know my size is 9 1/2. But I can't tell if I have a bunion or not. At the side of both toes there is a small bump but it doesn't look like a bunion to me and my first toes do lean a little but you can hardly tell it. I've looked at pictures of bunions online and it doesn't look like them sinc they don't lean that much at all. My feet are small in length, 9 1/2 but wide and I've always had long chubby toes. Someone in my family said it was just because my feet are small and my toes are big so it just looks sort of like one. Does anyone know if it might bunions or what I should do? I don't have any pain walking unless my shoes are tight at the toes. If you don't have any pain, it is probably not a bunion, or a very early one. It wouldn't hurt to see a podiatrist, as they are often able to treat bunions non- surgically if they see the patient early enough, but if you don't want to do that, you'll probably be OK just keeping an eye on it. If the big toes start to deviate more, or if you begin to have pain, redness or swelling in the joint, seek professional advice. And if it does turn out to require surgery, it isn't as bad as you might think. After 24 hours, I was fine w/only ibuprofen, it healed well, & I have excellent range of motion in the repaired joint. That's exactly how mine started...no pain, just small bumps on both feet...now I'm looking into surgery...If you want my advice, get it checked out BEFORE the pain starts...It's really hard to deal with! |
