Bunion still there after surgery?

hi, i just had bunion surgery performed 5 weeks ago and my feet look almost exactly the same as they did before the surgery. my toe still turns towards my other toes (and under the first toe) and it looks like there is a bulge where the bunion was. is the bulge part of the healing process and will it go away?

I had bunion surgery about 10 yrs. ago on both feet. And on my right foot there is a slightly bigger "bump" than on the left. BUT they are definately smaller than they were before my surgery. And my big toes don't turn in as much. I do still some trouble with them on occasion. Those areas are a bit tender at times if I wear shoes that put pressure on a certain spot and they ache sometimes because of the weather. But overall it's not bad. I would make an appointment with the doctor who preformed the surgery. Talk to him about your concerns. I doubt that the bone is going to "shrink" so what you've got now is it. And if you want your feet to feel and look better before summer make that appointment.

I guess that depends on how bad it was before the surgery. If you are not happy with the results, and by now that is the result, you need to go back to the surgeon and either tell him to do it right, or why he can't.

I have had the same procedure with the same results but my left foot got infected...so i had the same thing done 2 more times and now they are worse than before!!!!!!!!!!! I had both feet done at the same time!!! If i were u i would have the doc done a revision!!!!!!!!!! I had mine done in 2001 and NO they are not better and NO, they are NOT going to get any better unless u get another procure done..............they are more painful now than before?????????????????????

I have actually heard this from alot of people. Sorry to hear this. I found tha tthe main cause of bunions are from wearing shoes that do not fit properly. I suggest getting a good pair of shoes that a fitted to your foot. I having been wearing z-coils for almost a year now, and they have dome wonders for me. Hope you find some relief.
