BULLYING - Is this mental rape?

Rape is about being forced into circumstances over which you have no control; and being subjected forceably to degrading and inhuman treatment (of a sexual) nature, in voilation of your physical self, your mental self, your human rights etc.

It seems to me that bullying does all of the above too to the targets of this behaviour.

Do you agree? And if so, why do you think that society and the law turn a blind eye to it?

I not going into your question too much but yes I think that bullying is a form of mental rape.

I was bullied something terrible when I was younger and still get the odd snide comment and excuse this 'piss' take out of me even to this day.

By the way I am 39 yrs old. And this has affected me to this day mentally (low esteem) flash backs to the extent that at the mo am having a 'downer' period of my life and these flash backs to when being bullied and crude comments have led me to argue out loud and I get physical and am having an actual fight with them by punching the air in front of me.

So yes I do think that bullying is a form of mental rape.

Very good question I must add

Hope this answer helps

when it comes to a crime it is sexual

hi
bullying is sometimes caused from that bully having a hard life at home and this is the way he/she is taking it out of his anger
I don't think it is like rape as there is no body contact with a bully

It depends on the degree of violation, surely. You won't be successful if you can't suffer degrading treatment gracefully once in a while.

Yes, yes and yes.

If bullying wre to be exposed for what it really is....our so called civilised society would be exposed for the chimp like organisation it really is!!!

British Society has always been about the abilty of the bully to undermine the worthy.

Rape is a very strong word Be careful how you use it

Happens to me all the time|

It is not right, but there is little recourse now through the so-called channels of justice|

Just learn to defend yourself and start kicking b***|

That is what I have done|

It's mental and verbal abuse. It's all about control by the bully. And the scars go just as deep when it's this type of abuse. It slowly eats at self esteem too. It's cruel, it's inhumane, it's frightening. Standing up to the bully is hard but can be done. There are no physical bruises and society still doesn't accept that verbal abuse is abuse; it's invariably done behind closed doors where no one else can hear. If the abused calls the authorities, the abuser lies and takes it out, again, on the victim. It's hard to prove!

There is no such thing as "mental rape". Rape has very explicit implications and I think that most victims of rape would find your comparison offensive.

i wouldnt necessarily say its "mental rape" but i believe being mentally abused can sometimes be as bad as physical abuse.
with physical abuse the bruises can heal, but with mental abuse you cant see any changes and so can sometimes take longer. words hurt alot more than people realise

i was never bullied but i was raped
