....Bulimia?

hey.
im 15, 5'7, and weigh around 54 kilos.
I'm not obsessed with my weight or anything, but I made myself throw up a few times now.
And i don't know why I do it.
Im worried because I want to do it again.
I dont know why.
How do I cope with this?

They have rehab centers for this sweetie. You realize that you have a problem and that is , as over quoted as it sounds "the first step to recovery".

You are developing an extremely bad habit.

If you are not obsessed with your weight or how you look, then why do YOU think you are making yourself throw up? I mean, does it make you feel better to know that the food you ate is not going to make you gain weight , that it is out of your body and cannot do any harm??

I think there are deeper issues at hand.

I don't know I'm kinda going through the same thing ocasionoally. you just can't help it....

You know why you're doing it, or you wouldn't have done it. First you were curious to see if you could do it, and now that it wasn't as bad as you thought, you think why not? It's also an attention thing, I'm afraid. You hope someone might notice, but if they did you would feel bad. Right now, you don't know why you're doing it, and aren't weight obsessed, which I doubt, but soon that won't be the case. Think of it like an addiction. At first the smoker has a cigarette to see what it's like and then just for something to do. But soon enough, he can't stop, and if you don't stop, soon you won't be able to either. It creeps up on you, it's not all at once. If you don't really care either way, then stop doing it before you can't stop. It's not a hobby, it's not cool. If you're depressed or stressed out, tell someone, a friend, a parent. Ask them for help, you might be surprised how happy they are to try to help. Keep busy doing something you like so that you're not bored. Boredom creates more problems then you know. Alot of people get into things because they need or want excitement, and before they know it, they got exactly what they asked for.

be mindful of this. my friend did this too in highschool and now we are in our 40's and because of it she is obessed, her stomache has been altered to the degree that she don't know when she is full. Get help now.

Weight wise you are a healthy weight (albeit on the lighter side) for your height.
However, having these thought of wanting to be sick is not healthy and its very good that youve realised this isn't right and you want to stop.

You wont go into any kind of rehab in a residential setting because your are not underweight, so sadly there isnt a lot for you. Its a sad state of affairs when you have to get to five stone before they will put you in own, especially when you are aware of your problem.

Often people have an eating disorder because they feel they need to gain control in something in their lives and they find this is the only thing they can get that control in. This is why generally people with eating disorders are teenagers, when there is a lot of change in their lives and things that might make you confused and lost.

You should go talk to your GP about your feelings and ask to be referred to someone on the child and adolescence mental health team to assess you. Hopefully they will have some kind of programme in place that you could join to try to prevent you from getting too far down the line. It might be helpful to write a dairy about what you eat and what you feel when you think you want to throw up and take it with you so they can understand how serious it is. Unfortunately services across the country have different services and some are better than others so hopefully you live in a well funded part of the country as this is most likely to mean you will get help, sadly it does come down to money.

But I think you definatly need to take to your GP, and if they fob you off speak to another, keep trying until you get listened to, you might even be able to contact the child and adolescence team or the eating disorder teams directly if your GP wont take you seriously.

You must do this otherwise you may end up on a downward sprial that it becoms more difficult for you to realise what you are doing. If you have a friend you can trust I would try to confind in them too, and maybe there is a teacher at school you can talk to in confidence. They may be able to help you in finding the help you need to understand why you think like this.

Good luck and I hopes you find the help you need before it becomes to late! x

EDIT- try not to listen to people who say it is attention seeking because often it is not this at all. People who have eating disorders generally are poeple who are perfectionists and need to feel in control of something in their lives.

It's a good thing you are taking recognition of this problem. Most people who suffer from bulimia try to hide it and don't tell anyone about it. If I were you I would tell your parents, have them set you up with a nutritionist and they can help you eat good and stay at a perfectly healthy weight. Don't become another twig, please. You are so young, and still have developing to do. Tainting your eating habits at such a young age could cause other problems in your adolescent development. It is best you tell your parents or doctor asap and they will help you. :] Good luck.

You need to talk to someone about it, to try and understand why you did it.
I used to make myself a lot and it can mess you up a lot, physically and mentally.
