I have bulimia, and want to know if my electrolytes can be measured.?

I have bulimia. I know the dangers and know I should stop. I know that bulimia can screw with the body's electrolytes. I want to know if there's a way for a doctor to measure those electrolytes and determine if they are at a dangerous level (if that makes sense). I've been trying to get myself to stop. It's hard. I thought maybe if I have some hard figures or data in front of me, I'll scare myself into stopping. If not measuring the electrolytes, is there a way to test/measure something in my body to get the results I need to see if the bulimia is endangering me. I've been addicted for 4 years off and on.

Yes, a chemistry panel or a metabolic panel will measure sodium, potassium, bicarb, chloride (and other stuff) and you can have calcium and magnesium measured easily as well. Its a simple blood draw any doc can order.

yes with a blood or urine test. i don't think i'm going to beet the answer above me......
trust me, the answers will scare you. they did me. i had anorexia and bulimia for a long time. i was very thin and very sick. I had to have blood drawn everyday at one point. but i got over all that. you sound like you want to stop. that's the first step. wanting stop. you should get some help if you haven't already.

Hey here's the thing, don't eat chips and all that stuff, you can.. tell your parents to not buy ANYTHING with artificial flavoring, preservatives, or trans fat. it'll help, seriously. I've never had that problem really, but if you focus on everything else, then you don't focus on your own problems. I had a problem like this.. i was actually tearing out my hair.... it's pretty insane huh? but it all came back... the habit's still there, but it's not nearly as bad. I decided to go outside and enjoy to world more, sleep more, etc... Also, a huge problem in bulimia is that your teeth rot, do you want dentures? teeth that you can't bite with, talk without, etc...? also, it can have you die earlier. I wish you luck in trying to stop >_< just don't be too self conscious. I'm reallllyyyyyy self conscious even now, but many people don't look at all that fat or w/e, they look at the real you, not the one trying to loose weight. I've been addicted to pulling out my hair for 4 years... off and on. It all started with one person saying i had split ends... and then i don't know.. it was just for no reason, so think about how it started, and end it from the starting point.
