Bulimia? period?help plz?

My friend suffers from bulimia and i recently found out that she hasn't had her period for 1 year..she went to the doctors and they gave her some pills...she has been taking them for 3 weeks but still has not had her period....how long will it take for her period to come back?
also what is the best way to help her get over the bulimia? she is an intelligent girl, in the twenties. Her parent don't really do anything coz they are afraid that their meddling will only make it worse and cause bad feelings.

Her period might return when she gets to the placebo or iron pills, color depending on the brand she is taking (the last week in the package usually). But, with her disorder it's not garunteed. Her hormones need to stabilize in her body.

I know it's probably in your nature to want to help, to try to "fix" things, and you love your friend. But, I'm afraid the only way she's going to recover from her disease is to continue to seek medical treatment along with psychotherapy. Eating disorders are usually about having control over something when they feel their lives are totally out of control, or too controlled by others. It will take intense therapy and her finding it in herself to get better. All you can do is offer your moral support.
