Help with bulimia.?

what do you think of people who are bulimic?

i've read tons and tons of books on anoerxia and bulimia, and im so so sure that one of my friends is bulimic but she usually throws up after she eats big meals. how could i help her, and what damaga could this bulimia do after a long while? (even if its just from time to time)
thanks.

Hi!
Well that question I am a pro at. I was a model for many years and I suffered from bulemia. Bulemia rots your teeth, because when you throw up the gastric acid in your stomache washes over your enamel on your teeth and decays them (very rapidly) Your hair falls out (lack of nutrition)and you loose bone density Also, your skin in time becomes very dry (lack of oil) and you will wrinkle a lot sooner. Your friend needs professional help! This is a devastating disease that requires immediate attention. Oh, it also causes deep depression and you can have a heart attack. Please give your friend this phone number (808)965-1244. This place is called Aloha Healing Women in Hawaii. It helps girls and women with eating disorders.I suffered for over 20 years with bulemia and this is the only place that helped me.Please tell them Keri referred them. The center is also on the web have you friend check it out. Their are ways to get financial help to help pay for her treatment. You could be saving your friends life!!!!!!

The website is Aloha Healing Women.com

its not worth it.

you dont loose that much weight if any, because when you throw up your body has already taken in the calories so your not doing anything but making your teeth brown and yucky.

then in the end if you dont stop, it can be fatal.

but some people cant help it; and all you can do is pray that they realize one day how much they are destroying themselves and how they are lessening their future.

It's not so bad. It can hurt your asophagus, but really its just as bad as chronic heartburn. It's not healthy, but neither is some diets that people do. It's not so bad.

Bulimia can causes irraparable physical damage to the body. Bulimia side effects may directly cause esophageal problems, stomach ulcers, digestive problems, elimination problems, dental damage, vocal cord damage, nutrient deficiencies, vitamin deficiencies, mineral, deficiencies, and enlarged salivary glands. It weakens the heart, loss of bone density, hair loss, liver/kidney damage, The end result can be death. Do not let people convince you that this is not a big deal, it has a 15% mortality rate. Some effects are irraversable.

I would not confront the friend as she will not see your intervention as helping. If she is a minor talk to her parents, express your concern. After, make sure you are there to support her.

well...if its once in a while, at least their eating, right? i mean shes not anorexic, right?
she probably needs help with something and wants you to notice something is wrong so someone will help her
tell someone so she can get help before she becomes obsessed with it

I am a former bulimic, and the signs to look for are a callused on her knuckle. I would ask her about it in a non threatening way and kind of bring it up in conversation.

Bulimia can cause lots of Long term damage to your body. Constantly throwing up can dissolve you teeth due to the long term exposure to stomach acid. It can also deteriorate you esophagus and cause blisters and ulcers. not to mention that it could rupture causing suffocation and even death. So please ask you friend about it and tell someone you trust who can help her get help. I had to go to a facility for about 3 months, and it takes a long time to get healthy again, So please please get her help!

You are probably only aware of the tip of the iceberg. Someone who is bulimic can usually hide it better than we realize. The disease can kill. My teenage daughter had it.
I almost sent to a clinic out of state, but instead had my other daughter, her older sister, take her to prearranged appts with five different psychs each day of the week, until she clicked with one and and started her road to recovery. It took a long time, but was successful. Ten years later, she is healthy and I still keep an eye on her eating habits.
