Severe bruxism question. I grind my teeth bad..doctor said worst she has seen..now my gum is higher than them

and it is hurting and feeling odd. The filling material she uses just wears down in 3 or 4 months as she can't use the harder stuff on the front teeth and I can't afford a cap on it.

Can the gum between the two teeth be cut off so it is lower than the teeth. Would this be harmful or excessively painful after a few days?

I hate to tell her to pull it as it is a bottom tooth that will show but it feels real awful. It was painful but now feels more like a big something it stuck in my teeth or gums and it is very annoying whenever I close my mouth.

Any advice. I guess bruxism is associated with sleep apnea which I have or so I read. I use a mouth guard to sleep.

HELLO JANIE,

WHAT YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY GET TO STOP GRINDING ONCE AND FOREVER IS AN N.T.I. BRUXISM APPLIANCE.
WHY?
BECAUSE MOUTH GUARDS DON'T DEAL WITH THE REASONS FOR THE GRINDING INITIALLY. THEY DON'T ADDRESS THE MUSCLE HYPERACTIVITY WHICH CAUSES GRINDING IN THE FIRST PLACE. NO MOUTH GUARD WILL STOP THE GRINDING, BUT THIS APPLIANCE WILL VERY QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY.
ASK YOUR DENTIST TO MAKE ONE FOR YOU.

of it and it is overkill..then she said how she is working with me and any other dentist would just tell me to pull all my bottom teeth and get dentures (which she said would not stay in unless I got implant..a partial she made me will not stay in at all uch. Report It

so it is useless) this makes me feel I have no options. I asked her to at least make me a new sot night guard if I pay for it (I could not wear the hard one as I was grinding my teeth and changing my bite and then needing to deliberately grind my teeth to refix the bite and Report It

so I stop wearing and my old soft one is very old several years and I have bitten trough..plus it is disgusting. She had initially refused to make me a soft one as they only did hard ones there. I asked the price and was told $850 (for the soft one..what??) Report It

I said this can't be right and they said well we will give you a discount and do it for 450..this is robbery for someone on disability and no money. they suggested getting one at the drug store for $30 but I tried these and they are too thick. Report It

I am on medicaid and no one takes it but a few clinics. Most of the dentists are nightmares not even using enough novocaine and people are crying from pain as they can't stop as they overbook and they did terrible things to me. Report It

I finally found this pretty good dentist, I have but she is not helping me. I started crying and the man said he will investigate the price and call back today but he never called,. Th dentist told me my gum is spongy and to rinse gums with salt water 4 times a day and Report It

return in a week and they should have went down below the gumline. If not, she said she can cut my gum but said filling it will not help..she said she can't build the tooth up (they did before but the filling for front teeth is white and not hard and Report It

just wears off in a few months)..any advise would e appreciated. I did find a local dentist who does the nti and emailed him as to my situation and what is the price but I will need to pay not only for the nti but the office visits and prework Report It

to get it so it may be out of my range. I have a little money saved but not that much..any other suggestions. My dentist did not even keep the papers I zeroxed for here to read later. I was very dissapointed Report It

Hey there, I would definitely get a splint done, it is like a mouth guard but is much harder it will stop you from wearing the tooth down even more. If you cut the gum away that just means that you will expose the part of the tooth that is not covered by enamel called dentine, this will cause the tooth to be severely sensitive and prone to decay as dentine is the softer part of the tooth. I know it is expensive to get a cap done, but in the long run that might be the best option for you, maybe you can work out some sort of payment plan.
