About "Bruxism"?

What does "Bruxism" academically mean? What is the cause(pathogenesis) of it? And how to deal with(treat) it ? Does anyone know any website on this kind of topic? Thanks a lot!

IT IS WHEN YOU GRIND YOUR TEETH

IT IS BROUGHT ON BY STESS

GO TO PUBMED.COM AND TYPE BRUXISM AND THEN GO TO REVIEWS

"Bruxism is an oral habit consisting of involuntary gnashing, grinding, and clenching of the teeth in movements other than chewing. It is usually performed during sleep and is often associated with stress or tension. Bruxism causes abnormal wear of the teeth.
Bruxism also damages the periodontal ligament and associated supporting structures and is a major factor contributing to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
In addition to stress reduction techniques, a night guard or removable splint is frequently used as a temporary aid in the treatment of bruxism. The purpose of this splint is to reduce the damage caused by the grinding while the patient is asleep."
