Bruxism and sensitivity??? |
Ok, so I grind/clench my teeth in my sleep. I'm 24, and I just recently got a mouthguard (made by a dentist) a few months ago...after killing the nerves in my two front teeth. Since wearing thi mouthguard, it seems I actually put more pressure on my teeth than before. I've been under a lot of stress lately and have been clenching very hard for the past week or two. All of my bottom teeth hurt. The are especially sensitive when I breathe (not through my mouth, but through my nose). I'm trying to destress, I'm drinking kava tea, and have an appointment scheduled for accupuncture. I have an intense fear of the dentist/pain in my mouth - so this is really bothering me. I've been having anxiety attacks, which doesn't help my bruxism. My concern is that my teeth have been hurting for about a week now, no sign of improvement. I've also been using sensodyne toothpaste, it seems to help initially, but the effectsare not long-lasting. Have I damaged my nerves beyond repair? ...more... I am also confused by the fact that they hurt far less in the morning when I wake up. They seem to start to hurt about an hour after I wake, and get worse throughout the day. They also don't hurt while I'm eating? I've called my dentists office, and they don't really know what to tell me. I have an endodontic appointment on Friday, and the general dentists office said to ask them. Any input? Any prayers for me? This is seriously my worst nightmare. I am going through the same thing. Last spring I went to the dentist just knowing the pain I was having would result in a root canal or something. They did x ray after x ray. It showed nothing. The pain would start in one tooth and radiate. They just sent me home and told me to try to see if I had a tooth that was more sensitive than others. But I started noticing that I was clenching my jaws. I had had a problem with grinding a few years ago, but they told me I was not grinding. But, apparently clenching and grinding are 2 separate things. But last night I have had the worst tooth ache of my life. I have an appointment in an hour. I hope and pray they can find an abscess or something tangible that can be fixed or manipulated. The mouth guards gag me - I just stay very conscious and aware of it. I too though have anxiety attacks and they too have coincided with my clenching and tooth pain. I can't really give you any insight or answers, just sympathy. I will let you know how it goes. Good luck!!!! Have you seen a second dentist? |
