Can Bruxism be treated?

Can Bruxism be treated?

Bruxism is a habitual grinding of teeth either during sleep or as an unconscious habit during waking hours.
THere are various causes: it may be due to emotional tension, some gastrointestinal disturbances, nutritional deficiencies, allrgy or endocrinal disturbances, athletes engaged in physical activities often develop bruxism.
If the underlying cause is an emotional one,the nervous factor must be corrected.
Removable splints to be worn at night may be constructed to immobilize the jaws. If the disease is left untreated severe periodontal or temperomandibular joint disturbances may result.

hey i wanted to ask this question! :))

Yes, but it is questionable if the treatments work or not.
Treatment depends upon the underlying cause, which is sometimes difficult to determine.
Some treatments include:
-improving dental health and eliminating dental problems
-professional counseling, psychotherapy, physical therapy, stress management, exercise or meditation
-mouth guard
-biofeedback exercises, massed negative practice, change in sleep positioning, drug therapy, hypnotherapy, occlusal orthotics, and stress reduction and coping techniques.
