Is my left knee possible hurt? Whats wrong with it? |
Sometimes when i bend my left knee it hurts on the bottom. About once a week, it jams and I fall on the floor, unable to move because it hurts so badly. When this happens, it takes like 4 minutes to unjam and hurts all the way. I dont know what happened, as I am only 13. I have only hurt my leg once, when I was 8, because I fell out of my window. My mom (who used to be a nurse) said that I would have started expieriencing pain earlier then 13 if it had to do with falling out of my window. I dont know what to do, do you have any ideas of what is up with my knee? I have stress related problems, like bruxism (i grind my teeth in my sleep) but I dont know if that is related. Thank you. Sometimes it takes years for pain to manifest from a previous injury. With your knee locking up and extreme pain it definitely indicates something is wrong. You probably need physical therapy on your knee, this will help stop the jamming and reduce the pain. You have to see your medical doctor and go over all of your symptoms including grinding your teeth with your doctor. It could be a lot of different things. Make an appointment with the doctor so they can do tests to find out what is wrong with it. Don't play the guessing game. Ask your mom if you can see a doctor who specializes in orthopedics to have it diagnosed. Best to try to nip the problem in the bud. Don't just hope you'll outgrow the problem. You may not have done that much damage to you knee when you were 8, but there is a possibility that over the years you may have put more and more strain on it, causing more damage. It sounds like your cartlidge is popping out of place. I don't the medical term but my husbands used to do it and he would fall to the fall in horrible pain until he could pop it back in place. It was a football injury!! So go to the doc. and find out. If that isn't it than something is. So go on and find out. Good luck don't worry because it can't be a disease. it might be because the blood in your knee is acting up or something. I always answer people' knee questions on here as I just had my 13th surgery so I am a seasoned knee injury veteran. And I will tell you what I tell everyone else. See an orthopedic (bone and joint) doctor. He/she will discuss your symptoms with you and take xrays and an mri scan. The xrays will probably show nothing, but the mri will give you your answers. The knee is a very complicated joint with 4 main ligaments and tons of cartilage including the meniscus. People on yahoo answers will give you their best guess and say "I had the same thing!" but you will never know without getting images of your knee taken. I am very knowledgeable on the subject, but I wouldn't begin to tell you what is going on without looking at images of your knee. So please, see a doctor and get it checked out....the earlier the better....you do not want to be like me and have 13 surgeries and huge scars...trust me. Good luck to you. At what floor did you fall out the window? It a good thing that you are not injured more seriously. I know people who still experience post traumatic pain several years after their injuries and accidents because the body are still in the state of the injuries. And if there are more traumas to the area (in your case, falling on the same knee once a week), then the injured area will not be able to heal itself. |
