Should I go to rehab for my dislocated shoulder?

On Aug. 15 while crossing the street I was hit by a car. She wasn't going fast enough to kill me but the impact from my body was enough to severely crack her windshield and turns out my shoulder got dislocated. Anyway after a night and 1/2 a day in the hospital I was discharged to go see a shoulder doctor(It's starts with a O) I was in constant pain. I still am actually. I still feel slight pain when standing up,bending, and sleeping. My arm is in a brace and a huge black bruise is still there, but the pills I was perscribed(hydrocodone, and something that starts with an N),help a lot to dull the pain. I was only told to have 2 days for 2 weeks rehab. That's only 4 days. Couldn't I just try to get my arm working properly on my own. I mean paying money for only 4 days of rehab seems stupid to me.
I don't know if the women who hit me insurance will pay my medical bills.I wasn't using a crosswalk. I 'm personally on BlueCross Blue Shield anyway.

It's an "osteopath".

The driver's insurance will pay for your medical bills and if you get a lawyer, they'll pay for your time off from work, if you have a job, and if you get the right lawyer, they'll have to kick in some money as a consolation for your troubles ("pain & suffering compensation).

You can do the rehab yourself, but it might help to have a professional get you started so you know which ways to move your arm to regain full motion. If you don't get to work on it soon, it may heal funny and you'll have a helluva time getting back the range of motion. Basically, it's a balancing act between moving the partially healed parts enough to stretch stuff out so they won't freeze up, and not moving them so much that you continually re-injure the joint. The level of pain during the therapy sort of tells you where to stop - and a skilled PT will help you decide what level of pain is to be expected.

why do u have to go to rehab mabye just go see that docter and ask them for any other options like resting for 2 weeks... also keep the meds up and the bruise should go away eventually

Shoulders are an important part of your body and need to be in top condition. Go to the hospital ER. Your shoulder will probably need to be taped and arm put in a sling. Worse sonereo, a pulled or torn muscle hidden except for an xray or CT. Don't bargin with your health, it will come back and get you when your arm ages with time when it will be too late to fix. Rehab is geared to fixing your shoulder with different ways to move and fix your shoulder. If you try to do yourself you may end up makng it worse and batteling arthritis when you get older. Bite the bullet and go for rehab. You have great insurance, use it.

Do the four days of physical therapy. They can use electric stimulation which helps with swelling and increases circulation. They'll show you the proper way to move your arm to heal without making it worse. I think her insurance would cover your medical bills but you may need a lawyer to get them to pay. I would talk to a lawyer also about damages. Being hit by a car whether or not you're in a crosswalk is the driver's fault for not driving cautiously enough to stop before hitting you. Be careful about taking too much hydrocodone. It's very addicting.

I THINK THEY WERE REFERRING TO PHYSICAL THERAPY SESSIONS. WITH PT YOU WILL BE GIVEN EXERCISES AND TREATMENTS. IF THEY THINK EXTRA SESSIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL, THEY WILL BE IN CONTACT WITH THE DOCTOR

... I dislocated my shoulder in Dec. of '06 ... spent over 4 hours in the waiting room at the ER ... then took less than 5 mins to pop back in place after x-rays ... went back to the orthopedics doc. a week later and they just gave me so painkillers and said "this is something that mite never bother u again or it could be a life long problem .. if its a problem then surgery is the answer " ... they gave me a stretchy piece of plastic to do "physical therapy" myself ... that lasted 2 weeks and then they told me to just be careful for a few months with it ...

... Everything was groovy until 8 months later ... I was sleeping one Friday nite and all of a sudden it felt like a Mack Truck slammed my arm ... it popped back out again ... took me 20 mins to get outta bed ... told my bro to get dressed and take me to the ER ... luckily 10 mins later it slid back in ... went to the doc. Monday morning ... they gave me a "cortisone" shot and that stuff is magic ... they took x-rays and scheduled me for a MRI ... went to that and then took the results back ... they scheduled me for surgery next week, Sept. 6th ... I will let u no how everything goes ...

鈥?oya ... after my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance paid their portion of my MRI bill ... they sent me a bill for $300.00 bucks !! ... the MRI cost $1,170.00 ... Health care cost are ridiculous and America needs to wake up ...
