Painful Tooth PLEASE HELP EXPERTS?

I have a bridge on my front teeth and about four months ago I started feeling pain but was unsure where it was coming from so my dentist decided to have a root canal on one of the teeth. He separated one tooth from the bridge and did a root canal.

I now realized the pain was coming from the tooth beside it that had the root canal. He then made a root canal on the other tooth and the original pain was gone.

However the tooth that I had the first root canal feels very sore, I am thinking maybe it was not done correctly because it is very sensitive to the touch and is constantly bothering me.

3 weeks ago I went to an endodontist who redid the root canal said I had inflammation and put medicine inside. I am still having this uncomfortable pain that is very sore to the touch.
He also said I have a lot of bruising and this gives me a lot of pain.

I don't know what to do anymore, please if anyone else has had this problem or you know what's going on, help me please

Thank you!

Yes, the treatment needs to be completed and in a timely manner, but not on a tooth that has not responded well to treatment or settled down yet. Its better to let the tooth heal, getting it out of the woods so to speak, before continuing on with the completion of the root canal. Sealing the canals of a tooth is considered a permanent step that shouldn't be completed unless it鈥檚 certain that there is no live tissue, no auxiliary canals or a fractured root, all of which could be a possibility. Once the canals are sealed, it鈥檚 difficult to remove the material and requires more drilling and filing to clean out the canals to start over, which means more tooth structure must be removed in the process.

Sometimes too much treatment is hard on a tooth. Ask your dentist to check your bite and make sure you chew and slide your teeth all around when biting on the articulating paper; try to touch the opposing tooth with the sore one. This will make a mark on the tooth where any necessary adjustments need to be made. If your bite is the problem, you will feel immediate relief after the adjustment when closing or biting together but may feel some pain if you push on the tooth due to the bruising.

If the tooth its self is raised in the socket due to the infection, then an antibiotic may be needed and possibly an adjustment to the tooth taking it completely out of occlusion, if that is possible, since this is an anterior tooth of a bridge, it may not be an option. In most cases, such as yours, an antibiotic of therapy of Pen VK 500mg tid or bid is given along with an Ibuprofen at a 600 to 800mg dose every 6 hours and possibly along with a mild pain medication which can be taken a few hours before or after the Ibuprofen, but not together to avoid an upset stomach. In your case, an Ibuprofen will help to ease the pain and reduce any inflammation caused by the bruising.

In any event, you will need to return to your dentist so he may evaluate this tooth, prescribe any antibiotics, pain medications and make any necessary adjustments. Don't think the tooth will heal on its own, see your dentist tomorrow for an emergency appointment.

Additional information: An apicoectomy is preformed as a last resort and patients do well with them. I don't think all of the resources available have been considered yet. Let your dentist decide what will be best for your particular dental problem.

Did the endodontist finish his treatment? I would follow up with the endodontist either way. If its not finished, then you want to get the treatment completed. If he/she did finish it, then it sounds like you need further attention.
Don't wait, if you have an infected tooth, the more infected it gets, the harder it is to treat successfully.

If they did not give you antibiotics, get a round of antibiotics and see if helps. If you have already had antibiotics, go back to the endodontist. There is probably one more procedure they can do called an apicoectomy. They go to the root of the tooth and remove diseased tissue around the tip of the root that is in the bone. This is a failure of the bodies immune system to clear the infection and can be cleaned out as a last resort. Be sure the bridge is not too high in your bite and causing you to bite down on those teeth first instead of your back teeth, this can also caused pain.
