Post birth seizures? |
my daughter is one year old now. she started having seizures soon after she was born. initially it was opined that during membrane rupture or feutus inspection during my wife's labour, baby's head was bruised but that was wrong as after her MRI scan and 3-4 times EEG nothing like that has happened. she has everything perfectly normal. she is now getting one month old but we are still in the hospital. doctor are using trial and error mechanism to pick a right medicine. she was initially put on "Loaded" version of Phenobarbitone for 1.5 weeks. soon after loading she calms down for at least 5 days but she starts again when the levels of phenobarb goes down in her blood. they also tried loaded phenetoin but to no avail. now they are giving carbomezopine, phenobarbitone, perodoxine, folinic acid all together but still its less than 5 days before they started them. anybody has any idea whats going on when baby's tests show that everything is normal and no known cause of seizures? thanks Some seizures are very hard to locate by EEG. She may grow out of them eventually. But the hard evidence is she is getting them, and finding the right medication for her really is a case of finding the one that works for her. |
