Friend Just fell off a ladder!!!!!?

In a drunken stooper, my friend just fell six feet off a ladder onto her back. Her fall was broken by various people, but her side/lower back came down hard on the edge of the curb. I'm pretty sure she will wake up with some hardcore bruising, but I was hoping to do all I can for her before she passes out. Any help? cold press? heating pad?

I need an answer ASAP.

have her take a hot bath or shower, if you have epson salt put in to tub , makes the muscles a bit looser and helps prevent soreness, tomorrow when she wakes up, she might want that again, hot tub with epson salt , eases the pain of the muscless

good luck

Take her to the emergency room for a check out. She could have internal injuries that can't be manifested just by you looking at her She could have broken ribs or anything like that. If the rest of the crowd is drunk they may think her moaning and groaning from pain is funny. People have died from injuryes sustained from fall while drunk because they were too drunk to really feel any pain.

Heat and after she wakes cold press make sure she does not get burned by the heating pad.

Get some heat rub cream for her comfort, and some arnica cream for the bruising, to heal this up.

get a cold compress on the inured area asap (DONT use heat...you want to REDUCE swelling and bruising) and get her to an emergency room as soon as you can! if you are intoxicated or there is no one else at the gathering who can drive call an ambulance. you could very well save her life. By the way you're saying it it sounds as if she is unconscious (could be from the alcohol, but most likely the fall!) if so dont waste ANY time getting her to a hospital. there could be internal bleeding, brain damage that cannot be determined out of hospital, and possible spinal injury. Don't delay in getting her to help!!!

i am a student paramedic and cannot stress enough how important it is that you get her to a hospital after that kind of fall.

jojo's right don't use heat, it will make it worse. Initially use a cold compress to restrict blood vessels and reduce swelling and bruising. Get her checked out by qualified medical people asap. after the bruising and swelling has peaked (24 to 48 hrs), it is ok to use mild heat to ease pain and help to restore mobility.
