Why Do Bruises Turn Yellow When They're Healing?

I know that bruises sometimes turn yellow when they're healing. But why? Is it some sort of chemical in the blood vessels or something? And why do some bruises turn yellow and some do not?

The striking colors of a bruise are due to hemoglobin and its breakdown products, bilirubin and biliverdin.

Normally, your circulatory system is closed. The bruise is what you see when your capillaries are busted and leak blood into the surrounding tissues.

As above, bilirubin is one of the components of blood you see a few days after the development of a bruise.

I know Bilirubin is a very yellow color. It is likely the main culprit in the gross yellow bruiseness.
