Symptom's of Lyme's Disease Please Help?

I have been real sick since May 30 with upper respitory, sore ribs from coughing and I sleep all the time trouble breathing. The doctor diagnosed me as asmatic bronchitis, but I am trying to tell him that I have never been this sick ever.

I told him that I found a tick, but he says he does not think it is. I have heard some real bad things about Lyme's and if I do have it I do not want to wait to be treated. I have been sick since may 30.

Ticks can carry various kinds of nasty things--not just Lyme. You might indeed have Lyme and/or one or more co-infections. There are dozens of symptoms that can be caused by tick-borne infections, and it's important to sort them out.

Even though I'm sure you feel miserable, it's important to do some research (unless you are lucky enough to have someone to do it for you.) The plain awful fact is that most doctors in America know little about Lyme and other tick-borne infections. So, you've got to find out for yourself, and find someone who can help you.

Good places to start are lymeinfo.net, lymenet.com (where you can post your questions to be seen by others who have been through similar stuff), lymediseaseassociaton.org and ilads.org.

If after doing some research you still think you may have Lyme, you need to find an ILADS-affiliated doctor to help you. You can post on lymenet under the "seeking a doctor" category, to find the closest one to you. Good luck to you.

I looked up Lyme disease on webmd.com and found some information for you. There is to much info to copy and paste in here but here is the link to the page:

According to the symptoms the website lists I don't think you have lyme disease. The only symptom you described that was listed is fatigue. Upper respiratory problems with coughing and trouble breathing are not listed. If you are really not satisfied with your doctor's diagnosis I would suggest getting a second opinion. Doctors are not correct 100% of the time and it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Lyme disease is caused by a spirochete (Borrelia burgdoferi) it is spread by ticks. Usually deer ticks which are very small. A unique skin rash usually forms over the area of the tick bite. The rash generally looks like a target with a white center and red outer area (erythema chronicum migrans).
Findings: lymphadenopathy, neck pain, myalgias (muscle pain), hepatosplenomegaly (found early in the disease).
Symptoms include: malaise, fatigue, lethargy, headache, fevers/chills, neck pain, myalgias, back pain.

Your description does not sound like Lyme disease. If you do not think your MD is correct then get a second opinion. A large number of conditions can present with the symptoms that you describe.

Remember that random treatment with antibiotics is NOT harmless and can cause serious problems.
