Can diesel fumes cause scar tissue and fribrosis - if the diesel fumes are in the work environment?

I had high activity in a mass and two lymph nodes - it was originally thought I had stage 3 lung cancer. Upon removal of the upper right lobe of my lungs, the pathology report showed scar tissue and fibrosis. I am exposed to diesel fumes daily. Soot covers my desk. The mechanics run diesel equipment in the shop which is attached, and the whole building reeks of diesel. They have tried to bring in fresh air, and have expanded the shop, but I feel my problem was caused by the diesel fumes. I am not sure if the pathology report can prove that. OSHA has never been called in, but they probably should have been. I am scared to return to work, I don't want to breath the air and cause more lung damage. I have worked for this company for 12 years, and have had all kinds of allergies, bronchitis, and coughs.

Yes, these fumes are highly toxic & it seems your body is now paying the price.

Talking to the wrong guy here. I chase down bad diesels and get their company names, then tell them to fix their trucks.

Diesels have multiple problems, the smallest of which is the soot on your desk- Large particle soot. Much worse is the small particle soot and the chemicals as a result of incomplete combustion.

You are shortening your life, and your company is slowly killing people.

It is not needed to run diesels indoor any more. they can be replaced with electric, propane and CNG engines. Are you in the United States?

We have laws about this. Call an industrial lawyer.
