Sick without insurance.... :( how do I get better faster?

I just recently lost my military benefits when I graduated, and I dont start my new city job until this monday so my new benefits won't be available until a week or two after that. But Im sick right now! :( I feel SO helpless....I had military benefits all my life...now I know what no insurance feels like.

I don't have any money right now, not even emergency money. (tough times, please don't judge!)

My symptoms are kind of respiratory....like shortness of breath and some phlem, mild fever, itchy hot throat (but not sore like strep), clogged sinuses....I have felt this way before when I had bronchitis BUT it was worse then and I had more symptoms like coughing and liquid in my lungs. Im not Miserable yet, but i usually like going to the doctor before it gets miserable!

How do I get better faster!? Any recommendations for OTC medicines? Its hard to sleep at night....and I work my second job this weekend so i need to be tons better by friday night if possible. Thankyou

I don't have medical insurance either. I am also making poverty levels now. I can't collect medicaid or medicare because I do not qualify in our state.

Anyways... most hospitals offer financial assistance programs. I have to apply every 6 months for this. I can see doctors in my area who accept patients like me.

Best of luck.

sounds like cold/flu symptoms there are tons of products for that go to the pharmacy and ask for there help

i would get 5oo mg chewable C vitamins and eat about 5 the first day and 3-5 for the next 3 days

Unfortunately there is no substitute for proper medical care- especially if there is an infection. If the phlem is yellow-green in color, you are running a fever higher than 100, or are vomiting or have diarrhea then you will need to go to the ER or find an acute care clinic in your area.
If things have not progressed that far there things you can do that will help with the symptoms.
Drink plenty of fluids and incorporate Vitamin C (orange juice or vitamins) into your daily diet. In dry climates or homes where the heat is on consistantly- boil a pan of water on the stove to humidify the air. Make a saline solution from boiled salt-water for nose drops to release mucus and aid sinus congestion. Cough up as much phlem as possible. Drink warm /hot tea with local honey to build immunity and add lemon to soothe your throat.
Vicks on the chest or a salve/bath made from eucalyptus, peppermint, and rosemary can also help clear chest congestion and head congestion.
Good luck

I would try some Sudafed and rotate Motrin and Tylenol to get rid of the fever. Take it easy for a few days. Try some ice pops. They will hydrate you and give you some vitamins. Drink lots and lots of water!! I am going through exactly the same thing!! Oh, and if you don't mind the taste of these things try Coldeez. They are lozenges that taste like s*%t, but they work really well. Hope you feel better and good luck with your jobs and stuff!!
