Cold? Bronchitis?

I have a 6 year old son that has had a cold for the past week or so. Lately his symptoms have been increasing in severity. His cough is not as persistent as it was, but it is still there and producing a lot of phlegm. He has severe fatigue and fever of 102+. The fatigue is the most worrisome to me because he just lays around all day and seems not to have enough energy to even sit up for more than a few minutes. His sister (she does not live with us) came down with bronchitis after visiting and that is when my step son first started having symptoms. I know a lot of people will disagree that bronchitis is contagious, but from what I have read certain types are contagious. It can be spread through the common cold and of course that type is contagious. Wether or not he got it from her though is irrelevant, but she is supposed to come to visit today and I would hate for it to be spread back to her. So I'm wondering if this is or could possibly be bronchitis.

viral bronchitis can be spread.. the way his symptoms are going sounds as if he is getting to the climax of the virus.. remember it always gets better before it gets worse..
no matter what it is, it does sound contagous.. if your daughter comes over you should take extra precautions in disinfecting everything, and if she is old enough, give her some type of cold blocking medicine.. (like airborne-- i think thats what it is called)

It could definitely be bronchitis or croup, especially if hear some kind of wheezing in his chest.
