Bronchitis & Pneumonia what can I do...?

I'm sicker than a dead dog, I smokd for 15+ years. I've had this Bronchitis & Pneumonia for 1-1/2 weeks now, it's still getting worse. My lung's are getting worse, breathing is getting sore, and my lung's feel like they've been stabbed by a 6 inch dagger, and twisted...? I keep caughing non-stop, been to hospital twice, 1st Local one, they didn't do any xray's or anything on me, and said it sounds like Bronchitis? I went for second opinion at another Hospital, they did Xray's, Stethescope, put me on Antibiodic, Steroid & Prednisone I;ve been on this for two day's now, and still feel worse, and my lung's are still killing me, My caugh is driving me crazy, I haven't been able to sleep in 3 day's because of it...I've been taking some caugh syrup I had from before. What else can I do?

Continue your meds as the doctor prescribed them-give yourself a few more days for them to work at their maximum. Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. This will also impart moisture into your mucus and allow it to be more mobile; you can then expectorate it and remove that problem.
No matter what, continue to deep breathe. Splinting to prevent pain or coughing will make the matter worse. Slow, deep breaths and please, please, please...stop smoking! It has made everything you're experiencing 10 times worse.
I hope you feel better soon. Chances are that you'll feel worse before you're gonna feel better.

You need to stop smoking for one, that way your lungs will start to heal. Go back to the hospital and have them run some more xrays or something. You sound like you need to be emitted and have some antibiotics put in you though IV. Until then just try taking a hot shower and maybe sweat some of it out. Buy some DELSYM, it is supposed to stop your cough for up to 12 hours.

Ask your doctor if possibly they can perscribe you an inhaler.. My mom has pnenomonia and she got one it helps her a lot when she goes throuhg coughing spells! Hope this helps!

Did they give you some cough syrup?. You need and expectorant to get the stuff out of your chest.. Either go back to the same hospital you went to or call them. What about a walk in emergency clinic?. These things take time. Try taking a warm bath to get some moisture to loosen up the mucus.
Don't take the medication from a previous infection. It might cause it to get worse if it is just a cough suppressant. Hope you feel better soon.

Trying to treat people that smoke for Respiratory Problems, Is like trying to put fire out with someone pouring Gasoline on it
