Is this sound Bronchitis to you?

My hubby has following symptoms : Coughing a lot, high fever up tp 39 degreess, on off..meaning he'll be just fine and normal condition during day time for about 6days, and start feverish during night time, backache (muscle aching) in first few days. no sore throat or swollen glands, is this sound bronchitis to you? FYI, about 2 mths ago he has a cough for couple of weeks (without fever) and then just gone by itself. Can a doc diagnose a bronchitis, without doing blood test or rontgent? what could be the cause of bronchitis ?

Went to a doc, and he's diagnosed with BRonchitis, Doc sais that fever is common to have if you have bronchitis.

Night sweats could be TB or HIV-related or leukemia-related or cancer-related or chemo-related or other immuno-compromised-related secondary infection (such as mycoplasma infection from the dirt)?

They say bronchitis can be helped by breathing steam with a towel over your head and leaning over a pot of boiling water? That bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles...so anti-inflammatory agents (aspirin, naprosyn, advil) might help (ask the doc if it is ok first). They say bronchitis is a virus (why they don't culture for it). If no sputum, then tell them it is not bronchitis (see posting above about coughing up sputum with bronchitis).

Smoking or irritants can cause bronchitis too... (if he smokes get a chest x-ray to rule out lung cancer) Sometimes dry heated indoor air or working in cold outside air and coming in (changes in air temp) can aggravate it.

The times I have had bronchitis it may start with a fever, but then gets better and I just cough my head off for about a month or two until my ribs ache (I don't smoke). But if he works outdoors in cold air, that might make it worse...

Get a second opinion if you are not getting anywhere with the first doctor.

Do not assume anything about his condition. Now is the time to seek professional medical services. This could be a chronic condition... need more info.

Personally I'd have him go to a doctor it could be a number of things.

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchi. You should read about it. Check Wikipedia, for example. Here is it's opening paragraph:
Bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchi (medium-size airways) in the lungs. Acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses or bacteria and may last several days or weeks. Chronic bronchitis is not necessarily caused by infection and is generally part of a syndrome called COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease); it is defined clinically as a persistent cough that produces sputum (phlegm), for at least three months in two consecutive years. The remainder of this article deals with acute bronchitis only.

sounds more like a flu bug, bronchitis rarely causes fever just cough and upper respirator, aches and pains is rare with bronchitis, couching Flem and mucus, same treatment, Vita,c see doctor for antibiotic, keep warm and bed rest.

sounds more like the flu but bronchitis has to do with lungs and usually involves labored breathing, wheezing sounds and heavy coughing.bronchitis can be triggered by the environment.if you live in a area where there is a high pollen count and it has been breezy with lack of rain this could cause bronchitis to flair up.Most doctors treat bronchitis with antibiotics and rest.Usually no blood test are needed to diagnose it.Best to see a doctor for proper diagnoses.

I can't answer most of your questions, but bronchitis is caused by an infection in the bronchi (the tubes that air travels through to get to the lungs).

This website has some information. For more, search on Yahoo! for bronchitis, and you should find a lot.

By the way, your husband really should see a doctor right away. It could be more serious.

It doesn't sound like bronchitis. The first thing to do is a chest X ray and a differential blood count. Sarcoidosis is a possible answer. Need more info.
