Is bronchitis really that bad?? |
i have been sick for 2 weeks. it progressed from a sore throat to 103 degree fever, to sinus infection, to flu and body aches and now i went to the dr. and he said it has turned into bronchitis. he gave me 3 different meds. for it. my husband seems to think it's no big deal. that bronchitis is nothing more than a cough. this isnt true is it ??? i thought it could develop into pneumonia if not cleared up. he thinks i am being a baby about it and he even said he would like to get it just to see if it is bad as i say i feel. he is so stupid to me. what do you think ?? is it only a minor cough ?? bronchitis is an infection that creates mucous<sp?> in the chest (bronchial area). If it goes unchecked then it can turn into pneumonia. What probably happened is you started with a throat thing that went untreated. Then that went into sinusitus and has now progressed from there. You need to take every single drop of medication that you were given in the timeframe that it was prescribed for. It's SUPER important. If you don't it will just come back worse. yeah i'd say that its pretty bad Your husband needs to educate himself re bronchitis which can lead to pneumonia, emphesema and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. I once had it for 2 yrs when it stopped responding to medication. During this time I was dragging I was so exhausted & sick. I quit smoking then but an x-ray taken about 10 yrs after I quit showed that I have permanent lung damage due to the bronchitis caused by smoking. Bronchitis is a serious warning sign of worse things to come. Tell your husband to listen to the doctors, it is very dangerous, what happens is you start filling your lungs with phlegm and if it doesn麓t get under control, you won麓t be able to breath. You will feel more and more tired and probablu go to a deep sleep not being able to wake up, so you have to take it seriously and get it under control. If you need help call somebody that will really care for you. Bronchitis is an inflamation of the bronchial tubes. This can make your chest hurt and make you have alot of discomfort, along with the other symptoms you said. I wish your husband wasn'tacting that way about it. Be sure and follow your dr.s orders and hope you get to feeling better soon. |
