Allergy to Apples?

I have heard that apples are good for most allergies. The problem In the past ten years, I have developed an allergic recation to them. If I eat it, my lips get swollen, turn red and burns and my throat closes up and make it hard to breathe.

I still try to force myself to eat one ever so often hoping it will build up my immunity but I want to know how I can stop it or make it bareable and what may have cause it.

Thanks for the info on the "Epi Pen." While working in a restaurant, I had dressing with apple cider vinegar and that affected me for almost a week.

Anytime you have swelling of the mouth or lips, you should not expose yourself to the item that causes the reaction. You also MUST see a doctor as you never know when you will go into shock. Food allergies are not the same as seasonal allergies and get worse the more you are exposed, not better. Please do not eat apples again until you have been seen by an allergist. With the swelling and breathing problems, the next apple might kill you if you do not have an Epi Pen.

try going to a dr... they might be able to help. don't eat them if they make you stop breathing!

I'm also allergic to certain apples but not all kinds. I found that ones from Holland (sorry, forgotten the type it was called) but not Red Delicious or the Gala apples. You just need to find the ones that are grown without pesticides etc...best ones are the ones in your own backyard...that is if you have an apple tree! But of course, check with your doctor to be sure if you are allergic to all apples!

the only way avoid allergy is by avoiding them. so eating apple won't make you immune to it. because allergy is an acquired sensitivity to a given substance. so your body have an abnormality to accept apple as an antigen which is answered by and antibody. this reaction caused the mast cell to released histamine.

histamine caused the swelling, and the vasodillation of the blood vessel that makes you turn red and feel burned.
