Im allergic to milk... any body else have this problem and a suggestion to be able to eat dairy w/out reaction |
My doctor said Im allergic to milk and not to eat ANY dairy but thats hard ! I dont know if its ok to eat if I have an antihistamine with it or will it damage me to keep consuming? I get itchy skin trouble breathing and really bad stomach cramps. Soy, rice, goat, nut milk. people who are allergic (different from lactose intolerant) to milk are usually allergic to the milk protein. if you are allergic, do not eat yogurt, as it contains milk products. search labels very carefully. Report It I would ask a doctor this question. I don't think this is the right place to get this kind of advice. what about soy milk . . . i don't think that has dairy but check the label . . . just an idea. my sister is lactose intolerant but not allergic Try goat milk. It tastes different but no reaction. you are allergic to cow milk. just use a substitute. drink soy milk. it might taste funny, but it won't give you all of that trouble that cow milk does. Ask if you cn drink goat milk. that might be better. it tastes better than soy milk. I don't know about using the antihistamine though. Ask your doctor if you can have goat's milk. Then there are things like reduced-lactose cheese, etc. It all depends on how severe your alergy is, but don't try anything without medical advice. There are milks that are lactose free and there is soy milk (Wal-Mart). Also there are special pills you can take before you eat dairy and there are powders you can mix right into the jug of milk. Ask a pharmacist to help you find them. if you're willing you can try those over the counter lactose pills that allow you to eat dairy without the symptoms. I'm lactose intolerant so they work for me but I'm not sure about you though since you are seriously allergic to it. any time an allergy involves trouble BREATHING, it's time to leave the allergen alone. You may be able to tolerate soy... have you tried it? Don't eat dairy silly. As if the hives, chills, muscle aches, acne, stomach pain and other obnoxious symptoms aren't enough to deter you. Be aware that there is a tendency for people to crave foods they are allergic to, even though they get sick after they eat them. It's just one of those weird things. you're lactose intolerant. hang in there. i was diagnosed with celiac disease about 4 months ago and good god the list of things i can't eat !!!! but i will tell you this - changing my diet was the best thing i could do for myself - and you'll learn to live with it successfully. my advise to you is do what i did - talk with a dietician. they will help you learn how to read between the lines on labels and understand "hidden" sources of lactose. and more importantly - what to use as substitutes so you won't miss dairy so much. hang in there - it will be fine - and take care of yourself. you're worth it. There is medication to take, over the counter, that may help. You take the med before consumption. Sounds like you have a really bad allergy. Want to be careful though. You could go into anaphylaxis which is a life threatening allergic reaction. The trouble breathing may be from your esophagus constricting (beginning of anaphylaxis reaction) Try lactose free milk. Ask your doctor to refer you to an allergist for extra help. This question needs to be answered by an expert as your life could be at risk. Your body is trying to tell you something, sweetie. Dairy products aren't good for anything but calves. There's way too much protein and fat for humans. Why do you think there are so many obese people waddling around? I haven't had any dairy for years and I'm doing just fine. Many people have problems with dairy products and don't even realize it. Consumption of dairy has been linked to type I diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and asthma (among others). So listen to your body. It's not hard... it's just a small adjustment. My doctor says "eat to live, don't live to eat." I am not allergic to dairy, but I am severely lactose-intolerant. Since many prepared and restaurant foods have waste milk in them to raise the protein level, I carry High-potency Lact-aid with me all the time so I can stop "the runs" right away if I accidentally eat something containing milk. If you are truly allergic to milk, you should be more careful with your diet. You could become very ill from consuming dairy foods. A lot of people are allergic to milk .so that should not stop you from living your life as usual.Do listen to your body and respect it because that is what gives you happiness and pleasure,by keep healthy and fit you can enjoy all pleasures of life ,So avoid milk and its by products and having all those anti astamine tablets will bring down your bodies ability to fight back the allergies and break your-body's self defensive system and you will become more weak which will not only spoil your health but your moods too ,so listen to your body and respect it and enjoy your life to the full extent .Bye and best of luck. this my sound bad but try to find some one who raises dairy goats buy your milk from them we used toraise goats the milk is much better we sold our milk to many people who could not drink reg. milk My daughter was allergic to dairy products. We completely removed them from her diet for a year. After a year she tried them and has been able to eat anything she wants in dairy food group. They have a shot for this. I don't know why your doctor didn't mention it. My cousin used to have that problem but she is OK now. I think it takes lots of the shots though. The breathing problem is the real kicker! If it were only lactose intollerance, you could take something for that before eating dairy. But try soy milk products. Lots of them are very tastey. You should try 8th Continent Light Vanilla Soy Milk! It is sooo good - on cereal or whatever! Giving up milk will make you feel so much better that you will not want to go back. Just be sure to read the labels on everything. Sometimes milk is listed disguised as casein. There are lots of things to eat besides milk or cheese. You are lucky now. When I was a baby I was allergic to milk- threw up immediately. My parents were thrilled...anyway I had to have "Apricot Nectar" as a milk substitute. It's gross! If you or your parents are concerned about getting enough Calcium, broccoli is a good source and so is TUMS. My daughter was allergic to milk as a baby also - and we gave her Tums to make sure she got lots of calcium. Sorry, but NO YOU CAN'T EAT DAIRY!! Food allergies are nothing to mess with - you could go into anaphalactic shock. Not messing here - it's not like lactose intolerance, where you can't digest one of the sugars, your body goes into overdrive when you take in dairy. Don't eat or drink dairy product unless your a masochist. Have you tried lactaid? "Itchy skin, trouble breathing and bad stomach cramps?" That's 3 body areas you've gotten involved (skin, pulmonary and G.I.) and you still think there's something you can do so you can drink/eat dairy? If you have to have milk, try Lactaid: That's a milk-like product without the stuff in it that a lot of allergic people are reacting to. It's in the dairy department of lots of stores. |
