I have recently had a tattoo and have a problem? |
I got a tattoo on tuesday on my back and have been using vaseline to keep it from drying out as directed. On friday i got a really bad rash and its still there all around my tattoo, its awful and really itchy. Someone said that it was becuase the vaseline had stopped my skin from breathing but even after washing it off on friday and not using it since its still red and itching and looks bad. Is there anything i can take to get rid of it, or anything i can buy to help it and help my tattoo etc. Also any ideas what the hell it is?? Vaseline takes out all the colour and doesn't let your skin breath, use preparation h cream(for hemorrhoids) this tightens the skin acts as a protective barrier while the skin heals,or bapenthen , (nappy rash cream)good luck. It sounds like the normal healing process... you're skin is getting used to the scaring. If you're concerned speak to the tattooist or if you're in the UK go to Boots & they will be able to help you. When I had mt tattoos done i bought Savalon Spray it was very good it helped them heal, my husband and daughter also used it when they got tattoos have you used vaseline before?? maybe its just a reaction to the vaseline on your skin... Sorry, I can't help on the what the hell is it part. But as for help, try going to see your doctor, or the tattoo parlor where you got it done, they can offer some helpful advice since it is in their range of work. its just your skin healing vaseline???? no no honey...go to a different tatoo joint and get the stuff they sell...it is because it can't breath. you should have been using vitamin e for 2 days then you shouldve been using white lotion like lubriderm for about 2 weeks. Sounds just like the Scab is coming out !??!? I think vaseline might be doing it. I was instructed to use a lotion that was unscented. I used that several times a day and then after a week started using vitamin C oil. Using lotion instead of vaseline will mean you have to reapply several times a day but you are supposed to wash it several times a day so that shouldn't be a big problem. Are you washing it? If you aren't that could be a reason you are having some problems. I would call the tattoo place or a pharmacy. Good Luck! You've probably just put too thick a layer of vaseline on. I found that with my first one - I thought if I put loads on then it would heal quicker, but all that happened was it got spotty. I found using savlon cream worked wonders and it healed my tattoos up really quickly. Putting a thin layer of vaseline on at night kept it moisturised enough so moving around didn't knock the scabs off in bed at night. this happened to me when i got my tattoo also. some itching is normal because the skin is healing, but a rash i'm not so sure about. i had my dr look at my tatoo right after i got it to be sure it was all good and he recommended A&D ointment instead of vaseline. he said wash it 2X a day with plain liquid dial soap and water. very gently! and pat dry, then apply the A&D ointment. good luck to you! if you don't feel any relief in the next few days get to the dr to be sure you're ok. here's a side note to the person who said, "this is what you get for getting a tatoo." i assume that this person is against tatoos because of religious reasons. i'm sure that the Lord would not approve of you passing judgement on other people! or trying to make them feel bad about themselves! there are plenty of good doing respectable people out there with tatoos and plenty of murderers with no tatoos. what do you think of that? I've never used Vaseline on a tattoo, ring a different tattooist and ask for the name of a good cream to use, sorry I can't remember the name of it. you need to use some A&D onitment you can buy it a walmart in the baby diaper rash section i got a tat on my back too and that helps a lot plus it will help with all the symptoms you have I had the same problem when I had my leg done. Plain salt and water did the trick, cleared up in no time. Oh dear... |
