Anyone have allergy to A&D ointment? |
My 1-year-old had a light rash from diarrhea due to a stomach bug. Her stomach bug went away but we used A&D ointment on her diaper area and now she's dark red/purple with raised bumps (kind of looks like a birthmark?). I've stopped using the A&D and will be using Desitin (that worked well on my son) as soon as I can get to the store today. Sorry don't know anyone who has had a reaction to it. I, like your husband, used it for my tattoo and it healed brilliant. One can be allergic to anything. A&D is composed of vaseline, among other things, so use straight vaseline (which always worked better for me anyway) to see if the child is allergic to vaseline, or some other component in the A&D. |

Hogwash! This is an "old wives tale" as they say. You can however expose yourself to a nasty infection. Besides, birthmarks cannot be scratch off that easily. They go through several laye... maybe its a rash caused by sweat on your skin. A birthmark does not appear and disappear, as far as i know ...it might be a blood blister inside the skin instead of outside. keep an eye on it. if it gets worse make an appointment with a podiatrist . ...if you're concerned, see a doctor. if its not irritated, then it probably is a birthmark or something benign. don't worry about it. the doc has seen hundreds of them, so go show him. I agree with the first answerer...cosmetic surgeons know more than how to alter things on people's bodies. Does this spot bother your son too? I would say that if you are going to have this ... Duh!! No! Don't mess with owt like that, that's just ewww! ...At 14 your testicles are growing along with the rest of your body so if it is a birth mark it will also get bigger. If it doesn't bother you, leave it alone. If you really want to make sure,... Spots and splotches are normal. You can show them to the doctor if you want. ... |
