Anyone have allergy to A&D ointment?

My 1-year-old had a light rash from diarrhea due to a stomach bug. Her stomach bug went away but we used A&D ointment on her diaper area and now she's dark red/purple with raised bumps (kind of looks like a birthmark?). I've stopped using the A&D and will be using Desitin (that worked well on my son) as soon as I can get to the store today.

My Mom said she used the stuff on my brothers and I when we were kids without any problem and my husband used it on his tattoos without an issue so I wonder where she could've got the allergy from?

I just wondered if anyone else has had an allergic reaction to A&D ointment??

Sorry don't know anyone who has had a reaction to it. I, like your husband, used it for my tattoo and it healed brilliant.
Allergies sometimes come and go. Just stop use and see what happens. Maybe it is a coincidence. MY kids took terrible rashes on their bottoms when they were cutting teeth. Maybe it is that. Who knows with kids. Good luck and i hope the rash heals quick and doesn't cause too much discomfort for your little one.

One can be allergic to anything. A&D is composed of vaseline, among other things, so use straight vaseline (which always worked better for me anyway) to see if the child is allergic to vaseline, or some other component in the A&D.
