What is your advice or opinion?

My six and a half year old has had a "spot" since he was like three on his cheek, so I do know that it is not a birthmark. I took him to a dermatologist like maybe one year ago and they said that it was normal, it could be that he got it from something "citrus" or just something that caused "discoloration", and I was even given a cream that I used for awhile but nothing changed, as a matter of fact, recently it has seemed like the "Dark Spot" has gotten bigger.I already scheduled an appointment for him with a "Cosmetic Surgeon", but will he determine whether or not he'll need to take it off or if it's okay?Do cosmetic surgeons actually give you an opinion of whether or not it could be something bad or will they just ask you what you are wanting removed? Also, my son is only six and a half years old, so I have been afraid of having to do something like this, but I'll feel better when I get a second opinion, what do you think?

I agree with the first answerer...cosmetic surgeons know more than how to alter things on people's bodies. Does this spot bother your son too? I would say that if you are going to have this spot removed, do it now when he's young rather than waiting for him to get older.

Plastic surgeons will tell you if it is threatening. They have more knowledge with this kind of thing than a regular doc does. Its good that you are having it checked out now, and not waiting. Maybe you should ask for a biopsy to be done. Is it like a mole or just a spot?
Best of luck to you both! I will pray for your son!

THat is a heard one because you have to think about how other are going to see him and treat him. You as a mom you're doing great so please don't think badly about youself. if they say that they can make it look better go for it I would. but know everything befor you do it like willit come back will he have to have this done again when he's older. just make sure you know everyting there is to know.and you can always have another cosmetic surgeon before you doing the to and I would just to make sure is the right think to do!
