Should I get my surgery?

I was born with a rare birth defect known as Hershprungs. It affects my intestines and it makes the very end of my intestines stop growing and die off. It made me very sick. I was in and out of the hospital for the first two years of my life. I had to get a surgery to remove the dead intestines and it left me with a really embarrassing scar and my stomach, just below my belly button, hangs over the rest of my stomach. Under where it hangs over, it can get chapped if it gets wet. My parents have set up a surgery to get it removed and it would be a completely flat surface. They did this without my knowledge and without my consent. The surgery is set for the 18th of February. I really don't want to get it done, because I need to work to support my 4 month old son. I was told I would be out of work for 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery, because it is a major surgery. I was also told that it could cause problems later in life. Should I get it?

i wouldnt ur child depends on u do u hate it everything considered i dont think its a good idea

You should not get a surgery that is going to cause more problems than it will solve. Do a list of pro's and cons and figure it out for yourself.

How old are you that your parents are still making your medical decisions. If you have a child of your own you are grown up enough to make your own decisions. If you don't want to get it done now reschedule for a later date when it is more convenient for you. Maybe over a vacation so you won't have to miss so much work and try to save some money in the meantime to help you out till you recover enough to go back to work.

First of all you need to immediately to apply for SSI
even though any benefit will come long after you recover

Check into other benefits to lessen the impact of being out of work

Ask the doctor about recent developments in organ replacement

I just saw where a woman had a Bladder transplant
the donor was her own bladder
they grew a replacement from healthy cells

Perhaps this process will apply to your intestines
where a healthy section can be grown from healthy
part of the intestine and transplanted???

seems that is like a cure of the condition

I recently recieved a scar from surgery from belly button
to 1/2 inch from don't touch that

about 9 inches

and yes the first few weeks are stiff sore and uncomfortable
feels alot better when the staples are pulled but not much
like before the surgery

You cant drive or lift anything heavy
if someone can drive you and don't lift anything heavy
at work you really can go back right after the staples are pulled

unless you have something like a catheter
that dont go over to big at workplace
unless you have private office or don't greet and meet the
public

no matter what you will miss some work
if the cloning process can be done for you
maybe not today but expected within months
or maybe 1 year
perhaps the surgery ...
UNLESS absolutely necessary for your present health
can be delayed until the proceedure improves your health
more than the scheduled procedure will.

Just a thought I would ask
who knows ??

Find out everything you can on what you have. Try to find a website where people or documentation can tell you all of the benefits and and complications with your surgery. First and foremost, do not have surgery until you are ready to. Your body will need all of its energy and resources to heal itself. Being worried or having strong reservations wont help you heal to your full potential as fast as you could if you were comfortable with it.

if you are having problems ...have the surgery...i am sure they will help you with the child....but also ell them next time to consult you first....
