Does a change in birth control cause depresson? I think that birth control can affect your moods...your doctor may be able to switch you to one that will work better for you...there are hundreds of kinds out there! Good luck! Depends. only if you're talking about abstinence. it could...its messing w/ your hormones it could!! you go from one extreme to the next w/ your hormones, so depression could be affefcted in the mix. I'm sure. A change in hormones can really mess us the body. Even going off the pill will do it. Good question! I think so! You know us women have a hard time keeping the tears back when we are full of estrogen. That is pretty much what internal birth control is. I had to come off it because it was really bringing me down. I've never heard of it, but I can see where it could be possible. Birth control messes with your hormones. It either adds hormones or stops certain hormones from being made. That could definitely affect your mood. It affects your weight..I do know this. I've seen it happen to many. I can tell you for certain that it can contribute and even precipitate symptoms, especially in someone who is predisposed. Depo-provera especially. It probably cause your body to feel differentl;y but you control your mind, so no. |

You may have a better time on a mono-phasic pill, such as LoEstrin. Also, one that has a lower dose of estrogen might help.
